If we had $1 for every time our grandparents referenced “the good old days” when people worked hard, houses were cheap and families gathered ‘round the radio to listen to their weekly shows, well, we wouldn’t be here writing this post. We’d be too busy living on our private island and drinking fresh coconut water from our OWN palm trees, the palm trees that hold up the hammock we would be lounging in at this exact moment. But Meemaw and Peepaw were Depression kids who never let a dollar out of their sight, so, alas, our grand plan failed.

However, we already live on an island (ahem - Manhattan is a land mass surrounded by water) and between the rent and the cost of a monthly MTA pass there’s barely enough left to cover the Checked Bag Fee on a flight to our imaginary tropical island.

It’s 2018 and we are right in the middle of The Golden Age of the Podcast. What started out as a handful of NPR This American Life reruns on the weekend is now a full-blown daily schedule of content we can’t live without, which is serendipitous because we’ve got a lot of vacation time to kill and nowhere to go. Here are a few of our favorites (seriously, we have SO many more). Subscribe, sit back and let the calypso of a newly-downloaded podcast episode wash over your soul.
